November 1, 2019: Upkar Singh Ahuja, President and Pankaj Sharma, General
Secretary, Chamber of Industrial and Commercial Undertakings (CICU) Ludhiana in a joint statement mentioned
that recent increase in minimum wage is not justified, compare to adjoining
states like Rajasthan, H.P, Gujarat, Punjab is costliest.
They said it will affect the
production cost as Industry is already passing through very pathetic condition
due to GST implementation, demonetization, bad conditions of the focal points,
no any new investment and increase in minimum wages will also be a burden to
the industry.
"Additionally,
industry will also cut down number of vacancies in their units to maintain the
budget and unemployment ration will increase due to less requirements in
industry", they added.
