Jalandhar, March 2, 2019: Two-day International Conference put forth by the collaborative efforts of The Punjab centre of Migration Studies, Lyallpur Khalsa College Jalandhar and Punjab Bhawan, Surrey Canada started with an enthusiastic first day proceedings. College Principal Dr Gurpinder Singh Samra and Dr.Gopal Singh Buttar, Head of the Department of Punjabi along with Dr.Surinder Pal Mand Co-coordinator of the Punjab centre of Migration Studies welcomed the guests with bouquet of flowers. In his address Principal Dr Gurpinder Singh Samra hoped for a further and continued collaboration between the two parties in the near future for the benefit of Punjabi language and culture and the same sentiments were echoed by Mr.Sukhi Baath, Founder, Punjabi Bhawan, Surrey, Canada. The commitment was also given a documentation form with the signing of an MoU between the two institutions. Dr.Surinder Pal Mand Co-coordinator of the Punjab centre of Migration Studies informed about the various facets of the two day conference in full details whilst also highlighting the participation of over 20 scholars and the Poetry recitation program scheduled for the second day. In the key note address on day one, Dr.Jaswinder Singh from Punjabi University Patiala shared his expert opinions on overseas literature and its inceptions. The day also witnessed the views of overseas author Jarnail Singh Sekha, Surinder Sunnad, Prof. Kulwant Aujla and research papers of Dr. Naresh Kumar, Dr. Harjit Singh Pali, Dr. Sukhdev Singh Nagra, Dr. Inderjit Kaur, Dr. Sukhwinder Singh and Dr. Tejinder Kaur. Dr. Gopal Singh Buttar, Head of the Department of Punjabi presented the vote of thanks. Faculty members from various departments of the college and students were also present on this occasion.
