Chandigarh, May 29, 2015: UGC Professor at Department of Physics, Panjab University (PU) Dr.Tankeshwar Kumar has been selected as a “Member of the National Academy of Sciences, India”. The National Academy of Sciences, Allahabad, established in 1930, is cultivating and promoting Science and Technology in India.

Eligibility to become a member is high academic qualifications in any discipline of Science and Technology, active involvement in Science and Technology, and evidence of high quality of research publications in peer reviewed national and international Journal in addition to exceptional ability as a teacher or involvement in Science Promotion.

Dr. Tankeshwar, after graduation from Haryana obtained Ph.D. from the PU, followed by post-doctoral research training from the International Centre for Theoretical Physics, Italy. He joined PU as lecturer in 1995. Within 25 years of teaching/research experience Prof Tankeshwar has published more than 100 research papers, taught 10 courses in subjects of Physics and Computer Science. Designed courses in the field of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology as founder member of board of study of Centre of nanoscience and nanotechnology.

Delivered about 75 invited lectures as resource persons in conferences/symposiums, refresher courses. He, in the capacity of Director ComputerCentre, has computerized entrance tests forms and admissions process of the university campus.  Made campus Wi-Fi, and provided virtual class environment at the campus.

As member/coordinator/chairman of NAAC peer team he has accredited many universities,institutes and colleges. / (SK Vyas, Jalandhar)
