Noida, November 2, 2017: To familiarize the budding professionals about the importance of Sustainable Development of companies, Amity School of Business organized one day International Conference on “Global Business Strategies for Sustainability- GLOBUSS 2017” at Amity University, Sector 125, Noida.

The aim of the conference was to provide a platform to Students, Academicians, Researchers, Industry Experts and Research Scholars to exchange knowledge, ideas and issues related to sustainable development in the area of Marketing, Finance, Human Resource Management, Operations and Cross Functional areas for Business excellence globally.

The conference witnessed the participation of more than 50 International delegates across the globe including Afghanistan, Ethiopia, Uganda, Azerbaijan, Tanzania, Nepal and Kenya.

His Excellency Dr. Riad Kamal Abbas, Ambassador, Republic of Syria; Dr. J.N. Kushawaha, CEO, BTW; Mr. Ashok Vohra, Country Head, Sriram Group of Companies; Dr. Rishi Raj Singh, Director Training -NIESBUD, Noida; Mr. Priyank Bajpai, General Manager, Learning & Development, Vodafone and Prof. (Dr.) Gurinder Singh, Group Vice Chancellor, Amity Universities were present during the inaugural session.

Welcoming the guests, Dr. J K Sharma, Acting Head, Amity School of Business said that now-a-days, organizations are under pressure to develop process that are sustainable and this concept of sustainable development in businesses has received growing recognition. He opined that if sustainable development has to achieve its potential then it should be integrated into planning and measurement systems of business enterprises. He further added that the ultimate goal of sustainable development is to find a coherent and long lasting balancing between three aspects i.e communities, organizations and individuals.

Addressing the gathering, His Excellency Dr. Riad Kamal Abbas, Ambassador, Republic of Syria said that presently, sustainability is one of the most vital issues in society especially in corporate sector. He apprised that sustainable development in businesses must focus on business management approach with positive economic, environmental and social impacts. He pointed out that sustainability is particularly important for Developing Countries, where sustainable initiatives are in line with vision of an environmental friendly future within the framework of economic development strategy. His Excellency Dr. Abbas shared that innovation and sustainability play a pivotal role in economic growth. He averred that it is required to formalize alternative and traditional solutions in order to adopt economically viable business practices and increase market value levels for shareholders as well

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Ashok Vohra, Country Head, Sriram Group of Companies, Delhi that for the right growth of a company, strategy with sustainability is need of the hour. He mentioned that to develop an effective management framework for sustainable development, requires to be integrated in both decision making and governance. Mr. Vohra shared that various innovations are happening across globe due to globalization, need of new products and vision of leaders. He further added that for sustainable development, dynamics in innovations need to be understood.

Presenting a paper on “Experiential Marketing: A New Business Strategy” by Ms. SaniaUsmani, Student, Post Graduate, Department of Commerce, St Xavier’s College, Kolkata and Ms. Sumanta Dutta, Asst Professor, Department of Commerce, St Xavier’s College, Kolkata briefed on how the human interface has become a very crucial part in the world of marketing. Ms. Usmani highlighted that Experiential Marketing a mutually beneficial interaction between customers and brands, both online and offline, as an authentically branded engagement. She emphasized that the process involves listening to what a client has to say, analyzing the current tactics, emphasizing on educating the customers and finally the feedback. She averred that Experiential Marketing directly involves customers and encourage them to participate in the evolution of a brand.

During the day, various technical sessions were conducted on topics “Marketing”, “Finance”, “Human Resource” and “General Management and Operations Management” wherein participants presented their paper presentations such as Work Stress and Job Performance: A Study of Nepalese Commercial Banks by Mr. Manoj Kumar Chaudhary; A Comparative Study on the Performance of India's Merchandise Trade before and after Demonetization by Ms. Kabirdoss Devi; Cross Border Acquisitions and Financial Performance of Indian Pharmaceutical Companies by Mr. Abdul Wajid and Mr. Harjit Singh; Organizing the Unorganized Vegetable Retail Market by Ms. Deepali A. Chopra, and Ms. Richa Manocha and Way to Sustainable Online Grocery Business: An MCDM Approach by Mr. Deepanshu Trehan and Mr. Anshu Gupta amongst others.
