Dr. Cheema bats for streamlining working of Education Department
The Education Minister, Punjab Dr Daljit Singh Cheema on Tuesday presiding over a review meeting of the Education Department at Chandigarh. 
Chandigarh, December 16, 2014: The Education Minister Dr Daljit Singh Cheema today strongly advocated the streamlining of the working of the education department by generating awareness regarding the grievance redressal web portal and helpline number of the education department. He also exhorted the officers to ensure the quality education is imparted in the schools by giving preference to academic activities.
Disclosing this here today an official spokesperson of the Education Department said that Dr Cheema was presiding over a review meeting of the Education Department. The meeting was attended by Chief Parliamentary Secretary Inderbir Singh Bularia, Principal Secretary C. Roul, DGSE G.K.Singh, DPI Secondary Education Kamal Garg, DPI Elementary education Darshan Kaur and  Director SCERT Pankaj Sharma.
Dr. Cheema directs the officers to ensure that the grievances of the teachers, students and general public are being redressed on priority basis. “Every effort should be made to popularise the web portal, toll free number and helpline number of the department” he added. Education Minister while reviewing the scholarship and other schemes instructed the officers that it should be make sure that the real beneficiaries are getting the amount of scholarship directly in their accounts.
Dr. Cheema congratulated the officers for successfully implementing the vocational education scheme in 100 schools. He asked officers to make sure that that the students getting education for six trades of vocational courses are getting syllabus books in Punjabi language. The Education Minister also reviewed the working of six meritorious schools.
