DONATION: Rs 111,111 donated to MIMC

Panchkula, December 15, 2012: A cheque worth Rs 1, 11, 111 was donated to Mahabodhi International Meditation Centre (MIMC) at its Chandigarh branch here today.

The amount was donated by DBA Company which was received by Narvijay Yadav on behalf of MIMC Leh Ladakh. 

Nravijay Yadav, Secretary, MIMC, Chandigarh Branch said, “I am really thankful to DBA and SMC Bizz for taking this generous step. On behalf of MIMC Ladakh, I pay my gratitude towards this initiative. It is highly appreciable to come forward and donate hard earned money for the upliftment of people less fortunate than many of us.”

Alongwith Narvijay Yadav, more than 35 girl students from Ladakh, Major (Retd) Deepak Chaudhary, Press Photographer Kulbir Singh Kalsi, winner of IFA Zone Face of the Year 2012 Khanak Buddhiraja and Mahabodhi Girls Hostel warden Tsering Angdus were also present at the occasion.

Guests interacted with the Ladakhi girls and spent some quality time with them.

The MIMC Chandigarh branch, a unique pioneering project outside Ladakh was established in the year 2010 by internationally acclaimed meditation teacher and Buddhist monk, Ven. Bhikkhu Sanghasena. Since its establishment, this centre has served as a vital hub for spiritual and mental solace for hundreds of residents of Chandigarh and Panchkula city, Punjab and nearby surrounding areas by conducting meditation courses and time to time Dhamma talks. The centre also imparts holistic and spiritual education to the students of Padmaloka Girl hostels, which is situated adjacent to the centre.

The Mahabodhi International Meditation Centre (MIMC) in Leh-Ladakh is a great example of one man's vision turning into reality. Venerable Bhikkhu Sanghasena established the Mahabodhi International Meditation Center in 1986 to offer both spiritual instructions as well as desperately needed humanitarian services to impoverished people in the remote land of Ladakh. A dedicated team of social workers, teachers, doctors, monks, nuns, community leaders and care-providers have created an integrated community at Devachan in Ladakh which provides comprehensive care to all segments of society: children, elderly, special needs individuals, monks and nuns, the sick, as well as those seeking spiritual development.
