Ludhiana, March 26, 2017: The department of pediatrics, Christian Medical College Ludhiana, conducted a workshop on Developmental problems in children on 26th of March 2017. This workshop titled 'Cradle to Crayons and beyond-Development for all' was attended by 50 pediatricians from all over Punjab. Dr Anjana Thadani from Mumbai and Drs Monika Sharma and Vibhu Narad from Ludhiana were the resource faculty and they conducted sessions to discuss how various disabilities in children, such as motor disorders like cerebral palsy and behavioural disorders like autism and ADHD can be picked at an early age.

The neurodevelopmental problems are increasingly being recognised by doctors and parents alike and it is very important to train pediatricians to detect these issues at an early stage when interventions prove beneficial.

The Child Development Clinic at CMC, conducts an Early Intervention Clinic for high risk babies, which is the first of its kind in Punjab. Dr Monika Sharma mentioned that the department would continue its endeavour to train more and more pediatricians in Punjab so that every child gets the best opportunity to build on their capability to gel with the society.

Dr Anjana and Dr Vibhu also participated in a discussion with delegates on how more such early intervention clinics can be set up in Punjab.
