DISTRICT LEVEL FUNCTION ON “WORLD TUBERCULOSIS DAY” TO BE HELD ON MARCH 22
Ludhiana, March 8, 2019: Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development) Dr Shena Aggarwal today informed that with an aim to eliminate tuberculosis (TB) disease completely, a district level function on the occasion of World Tuberculosis Day would be organised at Civil Hospital Ludhiana on March 22, 2019. She said that the health department would be organising week-long activities regarding this event in all parts of the district. She said this while chairing a meeting of District Health Society at Civil Surgeon Office, here today. During the meeting, Dr Shena Aggarwal reviewed the progress of activities of health department for the month of January 2019. She also directed all SMO’s and CDPO’s to work jointly so that all health related government schemes and programmes of Punjab government are implemented in the district effectively. She directed the Health department officials to ensure timely surprise checks of all ultra-sound centres of Ludhiana district so that the social evil of female foeticide is checked. And if any person is found violating the rules, then strict action should be taken against them. The health department officials informed that one ultrasound centre has been sealed after some anomalies were found. Civil Surgeon Dr Parvinderpal Singh Sidhu informed that till date, 526 ultrasound centres have been checked in the district. He further informed that women opting for deliveries in government hospitals get Rs 700 in case of rural areas and Rs 600 in case of urban areas. He said that free immunisation of children aged 0-5 is carried out and Mamta Diwas is celebrated in Aanganwari Centres on every Wednesday. He informed that under School Health Programme, regular health checkups are carried out in schools and Aanganwari centres. The ADC (D) directed the officials to organise special awareness drive in all blocks of the district so that people are sensitised about all welfare schemes and programmes of the department. She also directed them that in view of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, the doctors should ensure proper healthcare and first aid facilities in all polling booths of district Ludhiana. During the meeting, the ADC (D) also reviewed the progress of several other health schemes run by the state government. MC Zonal Commissioner Mr Jasdev Singh Sekhon was also present in the meeting.
