Despite false rumours about ill effects, Measles Rubella Eradication Drive picks up, says SMO Dr Kiran Gill

Ludhiana, May 6, 2018: Inspite of having false rumours about ill-effects of Measles Rubella Eradication Drive recently initiated by Government of India, people are coming forward for measle rubella vaccination for the safety of their children, said Dr Kiran Gill (Senior Medical Officer, E.S.I Hospital-7 of Shimlapuri, Ludhiana).

Dr Gill emphasised that due to proper awareness lectures, parents realised that rumours about ‘Measles Rubella Eradication Drive’ are false and the children should be safely vaccinated against these two dreadful diseases.

Vaccination went smoothly at Teja Singh Swatantar Memorial Senior Sec: School, Shimlapuri. Principal Mrs Harjit Kaur and their teachers said that parents are coming forward themselves for getting their children vaccinated. Mrs Harjit said that all parents should get their children vaccinated and she appreciated and congratulated Department of Health for such a noble deed.

Dr Kiran Gill said that every child from 9 months to 15 years of age has to be given measle rubella vaccine to eradicate these two diseases from our country. She stressed that it is absolutely safe vaccine and appealed to the parents to get their children vaccinated.
