Department of Endocrinology, DMCH observed ‘World Diabetes Day’ by organizing awareness lecture
Ludhiana, November 14, 2019: Department of Endocrinology, DMCH today observed ‘World Diabetes Day’ by organizing awareness lecture for the patients and their attendants, who were present in Medical OPD of the hospital. Dr Parminder Singh (Professor & Head of Endocrinology) said that ‘Diabetes’ is one of the major growing diseases in today’s times and people need to be properly aware about the precautions required to lead diabetes-free healthy life. The theme for ‘World Diabetes Day’ this year is ‘Diabetes: Protect your Family’. Sedantry lifestyle and lack of physical exercises is one of the major cause of Diabetes, says Dr Parminder Singh. In his message, Dr Parminder Singh says that the major symptoms of ‘Diabetes’ include excessive thirst and hunger, frequent urination, fatigue and nausea etc. And as soon as patient feels any such symptoms, he should immediately consult a qualified doctor and get the required tests done to know about the level of diseases. And once, medicine is started for controlling ‘diabetes’ it should not be stopped of its own. Health Education Unit under the guidance of Dean Academics Dr Rajoo Singh Chhina has been regularly conducting health awareness lectures to motivate people to lead a healthy life style. Secretary of DMCH Managing Society-Sh Prem Kumar Gupta said that DMCH has also always been conducting such regular health awareness programmes for the benefir tof the coiety Dr Saurab Singla (Associate Professor of Endocrinology) also expressed that problem of ‘Diabetes’ should never be treated lightly and every person should spare 30 minutes of time daily for brisk walking or any other sports activity.
