New Delhi, June 8, 2015: The “Karyana” committee of Khari Baoli, Delhi has submitted a proposal to Haryana Government to set up a similar market in the State.
A delegation of Karyana Committee met the Chief Minister at Haryana Bhawan, New Delhi on Sunday and requested him to provide land to set up the biggest such market of the country in Haryana.
Showing positive attitude to this ambitious project, Mr. Manohar Lal Khattar said that the State Government would take further step in this direction in view of the interest of the people of area.
The Chief Minister said that the atmosphere has started building up for the concept of Make in India programme of Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi. He expressed happiness on this fact that thousands of traders connected with Karyana Market, Khari Baoli have expressed interest in setting up a similar  market in Haryana. He said that the government is of the view that if such market is set up in the state,it should be developed as an international level mandi instead of traditional mandi. He also suggested the delegation to make such a plan that  mandi is constructed keeping in view next 100 years.
In the meeting, the Delhi Steel Tools and Hardware Traders Association also expressed interest in shifting their market to Haryana. The Chief Minister said that today many associations related to various industries of Delhi are showing interest for setting up their ventures  in Haryana. The Government is also of the view that industries should get conducive atmosphere in the state so that there will be generation of direct and indirect employment opportunities in the state alongwith industrial development. It is the result of the efforts made by the state government during last six months that entrepreneurs   from within the country and abroad have been showing interest in Haryana, he added.
President, Karyana Committee, Khari Baoli, Mr. Vijay Gupta said that about 70 per cent business of Karyana Committee is to supply products to North Indian States. The market has a turnover of about Rs 10,000 crore per year and government is getting revenue of Rs 200-250 crore.
Haryana Agriculture Minister, Mr. O.P. Dhankar said that the setting up of this market would benefit people in the state. The Minister said that if market is developed in a planned manner, there will be huge opportunities of development. / (SK Vyas, Jalandhar)
