Decision to conduct repoll in six polling booths of district Mewat

Chandigarh, January 25, 2016: Haryana State Election Commission has decided to conduct repoll in six polling booths of district Mewat as the process of ongoing  election to Panchayati Raj Institutions has been vitiated at these polling booths  due to incidents of booth capturing and damage  to  Electronic Voting Machines (EVM).

          While giving this information here today, the State Election Commissioner, Mr. Rajeev Sharma said that the Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Election Officer (Panchayat) had sent reports to this effect and had, therefore, recommended  for repoll  at these polling booths.He said that the poll at these polling booths has been declared as void under Rule-61 of Haryana Panchayati Raj Election Rules, 1994. Fresh polling at these polling booths would now be held on January 27 from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. and a notification to this effect has been issued.

           Mr. Sharma said that repolling for Sarpanch Gram Panchayat, Kaliyaka would be conducted at booth number 119 of G.P.S. Kaliyaka, Tauru as EVM was damaged in Toto. Similarly, re-polling for   Member Zila Parishad Ward Number 4, Member Panchayat Samiti, Nuh, Ward Number 3, Sarpanch Gram Panchayat, Indri and for Panches Ward Numbers 1 to 14 of Gram Panchayat, Indri would be conducted at booth numbers 116 to 120 of Government Senior Secondary School, Indri as incidents of booth capturing were reported at these polling booths.

        He said that counting of votes for the seats of Panch and Sarpanch would be taken up   the same day after the close of poll. Counting of votes of concerned ward of Panchayat Samiti and Zila Parishad would be taken up on January 28, 2016, at the places to be specified by the concerned District Election Officer (Panchayat)./ (SK Vyas, Jalandhar)
