Feroepur, July 31, 2013: Today, Deputy Commissioner, Ferozepur, Manjit Singh Narang, inaugurated the RO System donated by Sarbat Da Bhala Chairtable Trust for inmates in the Central Jail in the presence of trustee SPS Oberoi, a prominent social activist. 

On this occasion, D. K. Sidhu, Superintendent Jail, Jeewan Thakur, Deputy Superintendent Jail, Amrik Singh, member of the Trust was also present.

Deputy Commissioner, while conveying thanks to  SPS Oberoi, Trustee for providing the RO System for jail inmates for drinking of clean water, said, “The initiatives taken by the trust are appreciable”.  He further said that the trust is also providing of RO system in all the jails of the state and other facilities for the prisoners and service to the humanity is the biggest religion.  Earlier also, the Trust has provided the machine for kneading and making chapattis which has provided a great relief to the jail inmates.

Speaking on the occasion, SPS Oberoi said, “About Rs.5 lakhs have been spent on the installation of RO system and more than 1,700 inmates in the jail would be provided with clean drinking water”.

He further said, “The Trust has already got installed ten such RO Systems in the jails at Patiala, Ludhiana, Sangrur and Ferozepur and apart from this medicine facility and toilets as per requirement have been constructed. In addition, crèche for the 125 children are also being opened with a cost of Rs.20 to Rs.25 lakhs per crèche and in Patiala and Ludhiana jails, one such crèche have already been started and now it will be opened in Ferozepur Central Jail”.

Apart from this, 8 computers have also been decided to be given so that the eligible inmates could be given the training of computer and provided necessary certificates so that they could live a life like a normal citizen by making the best use of the knowledge of computer, he added.
