Jalandhar, April 8, 2016: Keeping up with the tradition of celebrating all the festivals with great fervour and gaiety and apprising the student of their rich culture and heritage Baisakhi celebrations were held in CT Group of Institutions on Friday.
This year, the group celebrated is a blend of different cultures as their international and North East students too took part in the festivity with great enthusiasm. They doned the traditional attires, spend quality time in the fields, had fun with their fellow Indian students to know more and more about the festival. On the occasion, students attired in Punjabi dresses performed various cultural items including Bhangra, Qwalis and sung religious songs on the beats of Dhol.
Dhol beats and Punjabi folk music added to their excitement. Some students read out papers related to Baisakhi, Sikhism and Swami Dayanand Sarswati. The Campus premises were aptly decorated depicting the harvest season. Students were explained about the importance of this festival by faculty members.
Mr. Manbir Singh (Managing Director, CT Group of Institutions) highlighted the importance of the festival. He said, “It was a treat to see the students dressed in colourful Punjabi traditional outfits and participating in the celebrations with great fervor. This year celebrating with our International students has been more wonderful. ”
S. Charanjit Singh Channi (Chairman, CT Group of Institutions) motivated the staff and students to cherish the true spirit of the occasions. He said that Baisakhi was not only a harvest festival but also an auspicious day as on this very day Guru Gobind Singh had established the 'Khalsa Panth'. Adding that, he said, “Educational institutions have a great role and responsibility of making students aware with their cultural past.”
