Author.

I strongly condemn the attempt made by Natwar Singh, former Foreign Minister to sell his self-serving autobiography through scurrilous attacks on the Congress president, Sonia Gandhi, the Gandhi family and the Congress. This is nothing short of treachery on his part to reveal privileged information and conversations apart from inventing scandalous tales.  For a person who takes pride in having worked and served under Jawaharlal Nehru and Indira Gandhi to stoop to such a level for personal and political gain is shocking in the extreme. Here it must be remembered that Natwar Singh’s son Jagat is currently a BJP MLA in Rajasthan.
Why am I not very surprised at Natwar Singh’s lowdown behavior? This kind of libelous personal attack is what one has come to expect from scions of former princely families. Firmly rooted in feudalism they cannot stand the rise to power of politicians who reflect the common man’s aspirations.  For the former External Affairs Minister to comment on his privileged conversations with members of the Gandhi family are not only in the worst possible taste but reflect very poorly on his own sense of right and wrong. Can one forget the timing of the book? Just when the Congress has lost power!
For a person with pretensions to being a historian and a man of letters this is a very big come down and entirely self-created. I would strongly urge all Congressmen and people of sensibility to socially boycott Kanwar Natwar Singh.
