Congress' Chabba strategy responsible for efforts to revive terrorism in Punjab: Tarun Chugh

Chandigarh, October 18, 2017: The BJP has alleged that Congress' Chabba strategy was responsible for miscreants' efforts to revive of terrorism in Punjab.

Tarun Chugh, the national secretary of the party today said Congress support to resolutions favouring Khalistan at Sarbat Khalsa held in Chabba had fuelled the fire and threatened the peace in the state.

Chugh alleged that the Chabba resolutions had the support and approval of Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh who was the president of Punjab Congress at that time. He alleged that this was thr reason that Congress MLA Ramanjit Singh Sikki and Congress Kisan Wing president Inderjit Singh Zira and others were sent specially to attend and support the event organized by separatists.

Not only this, even Capt Amarinder's relative and former MP Simranjit Singh Mann had revealed that Sarbat Khalsa was organized with the active support of Congress leaders.

He said that it was only after Sarbat Khalsa at Chabba that terrorists activities gained momentum in the state and efforts were being made to disturb peace and harmony.

Chugh said that there has been a spate of incidents after Sarbat Khalsa at Chabba. Chugh said 88 year old Mata Chand Kaur was shot dead on April 4, 2016 at Bhaini Sahib. Similarly Durga Prasad Gupta of Shiv Sena was gunned down in April 2016 while Dera Sirsa follower Gurdev Singh was killed on June 13, 2016. RSS leader Jagdish Gagneja was shot at in Jalandhar on August 6 and he later succumbed to his injuries. During 2017 Vidhan Sabha Elections, a blast in Maur Mandi killed 7 people. Amit Sharma of Hindu Takht was killed on January 14, 2017 in Ludhiana. Dera Sirsa follower Satpal and his son Ramesh were killed by Sikh radicals in February, 2017. Father Peter Masih was shot dead on July 15, 2017 and recently unidentified bike borne attackers killed RSS leader Ravinder Gosain in Ludhiana.

Chugh urged Capt Amarinder Singh to act tough against the anti-national killers so that peace in the state does not get disturbed.

The BJP leder said that the BJP and RSS leaders had become soft targets after Congress government withdrew security provided to them without reviewing threat perception and other circumstances.
