New Delhi, September 11, 2014: The Ministry of Urban Development will discuss with all the States and Union Territories the central government’s ‘Smrart Cities’ projects tomorrow. Urban Development Minister M Venkaiah Naidu convened a Conclave of Urban Development Ministers of States/UT for soliciting the views/suggestions of states/UTs on building 100 Smart Cities. Principle Secretaries of states/UTs dealing with urban development will also be attending the Conclave.
Urban Development Ministry has come out with a Draft Concept Paper on Smart Cities and the same has been placed in public domain (www.indiansmartcities.in)
Further to interaction with states/UTs, the Smart Cities Project proposal will be firmed up and submitted for approval of the competent authorities.
The Draft Concept Paper contains broad contours of Smart Cities, criteria for selection, financing, capacity building needs etc.
