Ludhiana, July 28, 2017: Wool & Woollens Export Promotion Council, Ministry of Textiles, Government of India held its 175th meeting of its Committee of Administration today at 12.30 PM at Hotel Maharaja Regency, Ludhiana, followed by General Body Meeting at 3.00 PM, under the Chairmanship of Shri Sushil Kaura.

In the meeting, Shri Rajneesh Ghai, Vice-Chairman, Shri Kanish Kaura, Shri Aridaman Jain, Shri Sanjeev Dhir, Shri Anil Sood, Committee Members and General Members of the Council were also present.

The members discussed problems being faced by them after implementation of GST w.e.f 1st July, 2017. The Chairman, Shri Sushil Kaura, assured the members to take up their concerns with the Ministries.

The members noted with concern the declining trend in exports of Wool & Wool Blended Products during the period April to May, 2017. As per the data received from DGCI&S, Kolkata, the export of Woollen Products was US$ 57 Million as against the corresponding period US$ 60 Million last year, showing a decline of 5%. After detailed discussions, the members approved audited Income & Expenditure and Balance Sheet of the Council for the year 2016-17.

In the General Meeting, the amendment of Bye-Laws were discussed and passed with majority through Voting.
