Chandigarh, March 14, 2018: Acting swiftly on the complaints received regarding the discrepancies in the recruitment procedure going on at the Shivalik College of Nursing, Naya Nangal run by the Local Government Department, the Local Government Minister, Punjab, Mr. Navjot Singh Sidhu while ordering halt to the entire recruitment process has handed over the responsibility to the Chief Vigilance Officer to probe the entire matter in depth and submit a report within 15 days. A test was conducted by Guru Nanak Dev University Amritsar regarding recruitment at Shivalik College of Nursing, Naya Nangal. The result was declared recently and the recruitment was to be based on this result.

In a statement here today, Mr. Sidhu said that he had received complaints through the parents of some of the students, ex-MLAs and the media-persons alleging gross discrepancies in the recruitment process, regarding which the test was conducted by Guru Nanak Dev University Amritsar, at the Shivalik College of Nursing, Naya Nangal. He also added that keeping in view the complaints he has ordered immediate halt to the recruitment process and has entrusted the Chief Vigilance Officer with the responsibility to conduct a thorough probe into the entire matter with every detail being minutely looked into.

The Local Government Minister also divulged that directions have been given to the Director of the department in this regard. The minister also said that he assures through media all the candidates that the matter would be probed in detailed manner and full justice would be done to the candidates. He further said that the merit would be honoured considering the qualifications and till the time probe is not completed the entire recruitment process would remain halted.

Mr. Sidhu also disclosed that complaints were also received during the tenure of the previous government when Panjab University conducted a test regarding recruitment to government departments. He also said that taking any complaint seriously he has decided to go in for comprehensive probe into the entire matter so as to keep the faith of candidates intact in recruitment process to the government departments. He reiterated that there should be no doubt in the mind of any candidate concerning full justice being done in the case.
