CMC Cycles for Cancer Awareness
Ludhiana, September 30, 2018: The month of September is internationally observed as Cancer Awareness month. Doctors of Christian Medical College Ludhiana have been hosting several awareness activities for the community as well as their colleagues to raise awareness about various types of cancers in children and adults. This Sunday, 30thSeptember, around 100 doctors and their families along with MBBS students and 35 volunteers participated in a cycle rally. The rally was flagged off by the CMC’s Associate Director, Dr.Dhruv Ghosh from the CMC campus. Most of the doctors were accompanied by their spouses and young children who cycled upto Rakh Bagh. The youngest child to cycle was Ahana who is nine years old. She said no child in Ludhiana should suffer with cancer. Dr.Dhruv Ghosh encouraged the cyclists and said that it is important for everyone (not just doctors) to be able to recognize the early signs of a possible cancer so that treatment can be started at the earliest. Several MBBS students and interns who joined the cycle rally felt that they want to be ready for their future responsibility of being good doctors as well as leaders of the community against this dreadful disease. Dr. Dhruvand Dr. Jugesh head of pediatrics department, who were instrumental in organizing the rally said they are overwhelmed by the response they saw in CMC to spread awareness about cancer in children. Many industrial houses also participated in the rally. On this occasion Dr. Anil Luther, Medicial Superintendent said such events will be encouraged in the future so that people can understand that together as society we can fight and overcome dreadful diseases.
