CM orders magisterial probe into Tarn Taran incident

Chandigarh, March 5, 2013: Taking serious cognizance of the alleged thrashing of a woman by the Policemen in Tarn Taran district, the Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today ordered a magisterial probe into the incident.

Disclosing this here today a spokesperson of the Chief Minister’s Office said that, the Chief Minister has directed the district Magistrate Tarn Taran to ascertain the causes and circumstances which led to this incident and submit the inquiry report within three weeks.

Reiterating the commitment of the state government to protect the dignity and honour of the women, Badal categorically said that this was an unpardonable offence and anyone connected with this grave crime, howsoever influential he may be, would not be spared and brought to book as per the law of the land.
