CM and Deputy CM Mourns Death Of GK Chatrath

Chandigarh, September 11, 2015: Punjab Chief Minister Mr Parkash Singh Badal today expressed profound grief and sorrow over the sad demise of Panjab University (PU) senator, former Advocate General and ex-MLA of Punjab Mr. GK Chatrath, who passed away here at Chandigarh this morning.
In a condolence message, the Chief Minister described Mr. Chatrath as a legal luminary and eminent jurist besides a noted academician in the field of legal studies. Recalling the outstanding services of Mr. Chatrath as a renowned lawyer, MLA and senator of PU, Mr Badal said that he had proved his mettle in thearena of law and jurisprudence besides in public service.
 Sharing his heartfelt sympathies with the members of the bereaved family, the Chief Minister prayed to the Almighty to grant eternal peace to the departed soul and give strength to the family, relatives and friends to bear this irreplaceable loss.
 
Sukhbir Badal mourns sad demise of Ex MLA & AG G.K. Chatrath
Chandigarh, September 11, 2015: Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Mr.Sukhbir Singh Badal today expressed profound grief and sorrow over the sad demise of former advocate general and MLA of Punjab Gopal Krishan Chatrath, (82), who breathed his last here today morning. His daughter Anu Chatrath had also been Chandigarh's mayor in the past.
Terming his death as an irreparable loss to the legal education and profession Mr. Badal said he had served as senior senator of Punjab University for decades and was the head of Punjab Congress disciplinary committee. Deputy CM said Mr. Chatrath had earned a place of great significance among lawyers and served as president of Punjab and Haryana High Court Bar Association. "He and was very nice human being whose contribution in education, social and public life would always be remembered by all'', said Mr Badal.
In a condolence message, Mr. Badal prayed to the Almighty to grant strength to the bereaved family members, relatives and friends to bear this huge loss and eternal peace to the departed soul.
