Ludhiana, May 24, 2016: Stalwarts of Ludhiana Industries and Chamber of Industrial and Commercial Undertakings (CICU) Members elected Shri Avtar Singh, as President, who is associated with the Chamber since 1990, un-opposed in the Annual General Meeting. Taking into consideration the all outs efforts and services, for the growth and development of Trade and Industry the President has nominated Shri Upkar Singh Ahuja as General Secretary of the Chamber.

It is challenging time ahead, MSME can grow faster than ever but we need to change quickly and continuously. An encompassing growth is need of the hour as a Small Entrepreneur today will be a big Entrepreneur tomorrow and might become multi-national Enterprise eventually, if given the comfort of timely development support. Accordingly, both of them intend to accelerate activities periodically for boosting growth and development of MSMEs in the State of Punjab.

The future activities ear-marked in this year 2016-18 are as under:
(i) Committees will be formed for Manufacturing & Competitive Committee, Green Manufacturing, Pollution & Environment Control, HR Development (Senior Employee can join this committee), Exports Promotion, International Delegations & Exhibitions, Technology Up gradation, Marketing Excellence, Cluster Development, IPR & Brand Building, Large & Medium Scale Issues, Textiles & Garments, Women Entrepreneurs Forum (only women members).
(ii) New Focal Point to be formed by Government and some portion given to members of Chamber
(iii) Chamber initiative to take more than 50 delegates to CHINA for Machines tools Exhibition. (CIMES-2016) for exploring new areas of Technology infusion/up-gradation, use of Low Cost Automation etc.
(iv) Making Chamber Broad based by covering more cities & countries for providing vide range of business promotional activities and services.
(v) Organizing Mega Engineering Expo in November’ 2016 to make Manufacturing Units of its members as World Class Level.
(vi) International Level Seminars for CEOs & Owners of Industries.
(vii) The current technology mechanism should come from China to R&D Center Ludhiana so that it can be customized our working level.
(viii) Request government that all investment from foreign country should be in benefit of MSME of Ludhiana. The main objective is to upgrade existing industries.
(ix) More clusters will be introduced through LCMS scheme.

Shri Avtar Singh, President, said our Industries are demanding for new schemes from the government but utilizing very few benefits under the current schemes offered by the government where as other states are more aggressive in utilizing the scheme offered by the government and getting benefitted from the same.

Sh. Upkar Singh Ahuja, General Secretary said we have to get diversify on broader level with the changing technology and to compete in the global environment. Chamber initiative to organized new events like Marketing Beyond Limits, World Class Manufacturing, Entrepreneur motivational programs for Women’s will definitely give a boost to MSME sector.

Mr. J.R. Singal (Managing Director) Eastman company Appreciated Chamber’s Broader approach to upgrade MSME industries and said “I am observing the activities and development held from past 2 to 3 years and every time Chamber is climbing up to higher level. But on the other side the government working is very slow as compared to our working level. Govt. has to match the same frequency to develop Ludhiana as smart city”.
