Cheque of Rs.1 crore handed over by Pinki to Saragarhi Memorial Management Trust
Ferozepur, October 1, 2019: The amount of Rs.1 crore which was sanctioned by the Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh for the beautification and development of historic Saragarhi Memorial few days ago, was handed over today by Congress MLA Parminder Singh Pinki and Deputy Commissioner Chander Gaind to Major General Amit Loomba, GOC of the 7 Infantry Division and ex-officio President of the Saragarhi Memorial Management Trust and other senior army officials. On this occasion, Pinki said that the memorial will be developed under the “Swadesh Yojna” and special light and sound show will also be arranged at Saragarhi memorial. He said that to develop the Saragarhi memorial as a world class tourist hub, a huge central park will also be established. While conveying his thanks to the CM Capt.Amarinder, Pinki said that it is very important for the generations to come to know about the history, velour and bravery of those 21 soldiers of 36 regiment who had died against heavy odds in 1897 in North West Frontier. While interacting with the media persons, DC Chander Gaind emphasized the need to develop Saragarhi memorial as world class tourist hub. “We are trying that the tourists who go to Hussainiwala to watch retreat ceremony, could witness a mesmerizing light and sound show at Saragarhi complex while coming back. The administration will also moot a proposal to merge the chunk of land which belongs to forest department with Saragarhi complex so that a huge central park could be established here.
