Chandigarh, December 11, 2013: Fifty seven (57) youths belonging to BPL families received certificates on completion of two Skill Development Programmes conducted by Regional Centre for Entrepreneurship Development (RCED) on the behalf of State Urban Poverty Alleviation Cell, Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh under Swarna Jayanti Shahri Rojgar Yojana (SJSRY). Fourty candidates were given training in “Certificate Course in Finance Accounts, Tally & Communication Skills” and 17 in “Two Wheelers Repair” course. The duration of both the programmes was three months.   
Archana Verma Singh, wife of Commissioner, Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh distributed the certificates to the participants during the valedictory function of the programmes held here today at Punjab Arts Council, Sector 16. She conveyed her blessings to the trainees and suggested the organisers to conduct more such programmes for the benefit of the youth.
Harjinder Kaur, President, Punjab Arts Council and Councilor, M.C. Chandigarh appreciated the efforts of the organizers and informed that the MC Chandigarh has planned to initiate number of vocational programmes for Economic Empowerment of youth and women.
Vivek Trivedi, Social Development Officer, MC Chandigarh welcomed the chief guest. He presented small note on the achievements of SJSRY Scheme in Chandigarh.
Paramjit Singh, Principal Consultant, RCED in his address talked about the contents, faculty and achievement of the programme. On conclusion of the programs, special attention has been given for placement of the candidates. Sessions were also conducted for brushing their interview skills and personality development. Team was assigned the task for tying up with the industry partners for placement of the students. RCED will provide hand holding support to all the trainees till they get placed or start their self employment ventures.
70 Candidates were selected for the programmes, 57 Successfully completed, 50 candidates appeared for interviews  and 32 got selected in various  concerns.
