INTER-STATE car-lifter gang busted

Ferozepur, July 22, 2013: The Ferozepur police claim to have busted a gang of interstate car lifters with the arrest of one member of the gang with 11 vehicles.

Giving this information to the media persons in the press conference held in his office, Varinderpal Singh, SSP, Ferozepur said, “A police team headed by Raghbir Singh Sandhu, SP (S) constituted with the intention to keep an eye on the unscrupulous elements, was putting up a ‘naka’ at Talwandi Bhai crossing.  On stopping one vehicle being driven by Gurdip Singh alias Kaka resident of Gholian Kalan, District Moga, was stopped and on inquiry, he could not produce the valid documents of the vehicle.  On further in-depth investigation of Gurdip Singh, it came on surface that he is running a junk and denting and painting business presently at Auto Market Sirsa where he used to get the vehicles stolen by Imran of Meerut, Ali of Karnal and Gupta of Delhi and then he used to change the chassis numbers of these stolen vehicles and further sell it in the market by getting prepared the fictitious papers”.

SSP further said, a case has been registered at Ghall Khurd police station under sections 379 and 411 of IPC.

Varinder Pal Singh also said, “During the detailed investigation in the case, 11 vehicles from the designated place told by Gurdip Singh, were recovered which include one Tavera from Ghall Khurd area, 2 Indigo, one i20, one Santro and 2 Alto, One Accent, One Indica and One Mahindra Jeep in the area of village Saianwala.

It is pertinent to mention that Gurdip Singh is already facing a trial in the court at Sirsa on account of theft of vehicles. Gurdip Singh will be presented  in the court today for getting the police remand to arrested the other members of the gang disclosed by him, to proceed further in the case.

After the arrest of all the members of the gang, more clues are expected from them with regard to lifting of various vehicles.
