Chandigarh DC asks students to constantly innovate and reinvent by acquiring new skills
Orientation Programme held for students at UIAMS, PU Chandigarh, July 15, 2019: “The students were asked to constantly innovate and reinvent by acquiring new skills”, said Mandip S Brar, Deputy Commissioner, Chandigarh, while addressing the MBA (Sectoral) Batch 2019-21 of University Institute of Applied Management Sciences (UIAMS), Panjab University, Chandigarh at the Orientation Programme, here today. The deputy commissioner stressed on the importance of written as well as oral communication skills in order to motivate or to influence people. He also added that listening of equally important to understand the perspective of the other side. Brar added that to be a good leader, one has to be a good follower. He further urged the students to maintain high level of integrity and follow values and ethics, both in professional life as well as in personal conduct. Prof.Raj Kumar, Vice Chancellor, Panjab University, Chandigarh in his address appreciated UIAMS for its industry specific specialised courses. He advised the students to use these two years to equip themselves with the right skills. He encouraged the students towards the culture of innovation, start-ups and entrepreneurship. PU, VC encouraged the students to extend their interaction across other departments and build multi-disciplinary approach to innovations and problem solving. He urged them to work for corporate linkages. T.K. Ruby, CEO, Raymed Pharmaceutical Ltd., Chandigarh in his address said that the students are like waves of the sea and they should not and cannot be stopped. They have immense potential but they have to take up the responsibility for their own lives. He also shared his mantras of success with the students stating that physical fitness, mental alertness, goal clarity and proactiveness are absolutely essential. The Director, UIAMS, Prof. Upasna Joshi welcomed the esteemed guests and the new students to the occasion. She briefed the students about the Institute, the teaching learning process at UIAMS and the various activities to be conducted in the next two years. The students were also briefed about the various curricular and co-curricular clubs in UIAMS that the students can be a part of. They were further briefed about the placement activities organised by the placement cell at UIAMS.
