CAUGHT RED HANDED: VB nabs JE & Kanugo accepting bribes

Chandigarh, October 18, 2012: State Vigilance Bureau, during its ongoing campaign against rampant corruption, today nabbed Junior Engineer Powercom and Revenue Kanugo red handed allegedly accepting bribes in two different cases.

Disclosing this here today Suresh Arora, DGP-cum-Chief Director Vigilance Bureau Punjab said that Prem Nath, J.E. PSPCL, Kot Isse Khan, District Moga was nabbed red handed from his office by a Vigilance team led by Bikramjit Singh, DSP, V.B., Moga while he was accepting bribe of Rs. 10,000  from complainant Sukhpal Singh of village Talwandi Nohbahar, District Moga for installation of a new domestic electric supply connection at his residence.

The complaint informed the bureau that the accused JE has been demanding money from him. After confirming the allegation, the VB team laid a trap and the accused was caught red handed from his office and tainted money was recovered from him in the presence of two official witnesses. He further added that FIR no.4, dated October 18, u/s 7, 13 (2) Prevention of Corruption Act (PCA) at Police Station /VB Ferozepur have been registered against him and further investigation was under process.

The VB chief further said that that Jarnail Singh, Kanugo, Revenue Circle, Tehsil Jalandhar was nabbed red handed by a Vigilance team led by Baldev Singh, DSP/ V.B., Hoshiarpur while he was accepting bribe of Rs. 15,000 from complainant Baljit Singh of Aslam Ganj, Ludhiana for the demarcation and Intqal of his plot at Santoshi Nagar, Jalandhar. The complaint informed the bureau that the accused Kanugo has been demanding money from him for the above purpose. After confirming the allegation, the VB team laid a trap and the accused was caught red handed and the bribe money was recovered from the front pocket of his shirt in the presence of two official witnesses. He further added that FIR no.5, dated October 18, u/s 7, 13 (2) Prevention of Corruption Act (PCA) at Police Station /VB Jalandhar have been registered against him and further investigation was under process.
