Chandigarh, April 8, 2015: With poll campaigning coming to an end in Dhuri Assembly Constituency on April 9 at 6:00 PM i.e. 48 hours before the completion of polling, the state is all set to conduct smooth electoral process for Dhuri bypoll.
Stating this here today, V.K. Singh, Chief Electoral Officer said that comprehensive arrangements have been made to ensure free, fair and transparent Dhuri bypoll.  He said that with active campaigning coming to end, the candidates or their supporters could go for door to door campaigning but they shouldn’t be more than 5 in numbers. He said that with the end of campaigning, the dry days have been started in the state and now the liquor vends of district Sangrur, especially in Dhuri to remain closed till the completion of polling on April 11. He also said that polling area had already been declared Tobacco and Smoke free as the State has already banned use of Tobacco in any form.
The CEO further said that the district administration and police administration have been asked to ensure that the campaigning political functionaries and outsiders leave immediately after the campaign period is over. The CEO has also directed to set-up check posts in the constituency borders to track the vehicular movement from outside the constituency.
