Ludhiana, May 7, 2015: A meeting of senior officers of Greater Ludhiana Area Development Authority (GLADA) was held in which issue related to authorised marriage palaces and unauthorised marriage palaces was discussed. Mr G K Singh, Chief Administrator, GLADA issued directions that strict action should be taken against those marriage palaces which do not follow the set norms.
It is pertinent to mention that some marriage palace owners have not applied with GLADA for getting their marriage palaces authorised and 10 marriage palaces have already been sealed.
During the meeting, G K Singh issued strict directions to his staff that those marriage palaces which have completed necessary formalities and paid fees such as CLU, license fee, EDC besides others, their marriage palaces should be authorised on priority basis and their building plans should be passed as per the norms. He also directed his staff that those marriage palaces which have not completed the formalities till date, time bound notices should be issued to them. He said that those marriage palaces whose cases have been rejected or those who have not applied for getting their marriage palaces authorised, those properties should be sealed after issuing show cause notices.
It is pertinent to mention that in Ludhiana, the number of applicants was 144, out of which 6 are authorised marriage palaces while 15 rejected marriage palaces. Similarly, in Moga, total applicants were 41, out of which 11 are authorised marriage palaces and 5 rejected, in Tehsil Ferozepur, total applicants were 32, out of which 2 are authorised and 4 rejected, in Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar, total applicants were 26 and there is no authorised marriage palace, while in Tehsil Phillaur, total applicants were 28, out of which 9 are authorised.
G K Singh further stated that some of the owners of marriage palaces are not following the rules/policy/directions framed by the Punjab government in the true spirit. He said that some marriage palace owners are allowing parking of vehicles on roads outside their premises, which is illegal and hampers flow of traffic. He said that such marriage palaces are also indulging in noise pollution as they don't stop playing of DJ's after 10pm. He said they even ignore public safety.
G K Singh, chief administrator, GLADA, has directed his field engineers to keep a tab on such discrepancies and illegalities by marriage palace owners and make sure none of them is allowed to flout rules.
