Brand new class room block gifted to government school by Round Table India

Ludhiana, May 21, 2014: Round Table India (RTI) and Ladies Circle India (LCI) have together inaugurated a brand new Classroom Block at Government Middle School Giaspura.  This school block built at a cost of Rs.25 lacs will bring excellent facilities for students of the school who have been studying till date in very poor facilities.
Inauguration was attended by District Education Officer, School staff and children President Round Table India Harish Shenoy, President Ladies Circle India Pooja Galundia and members of Round Table India and Ladies Circle India. Government Middle School Giaspura charges zero fees to its students and has 350 students on its rolls including more than 160 girls. With the addition of 3 new classrooms more than 100 new students will be added to the school rolls. Most of the students are children of daily wage labourers or factory workers in the industrial area of the city. Round Table India has also installed a water purifier RO system as well as a water cooler to this school. In addition three brand new computers with LCD screens have been gifted to the school computer laboratory. This is the first project in the state of Punjab by Round Table India (RTI). Since 1997 Round Table India, under `freedom through  education’, has Built 4749 Classrooms in 1729 Schools at an total outlay of Rs 132 crores impacting 5.22 Million Children. Funds for this school building were raised by Ludhiana Chapter of RTI & LCI by organizing various fundraisers in the past years including Run-4-Reason Marathon at IREO and Blind Man Rally. Residents of Ludhiana have been donating generously for this school project.
