A blood donation camp for Thalassemic children being organised by staff of DMCH Pharmacy on the occasion of first anniversary of DMCH Pharmacy at Ludhiana.

Ludhiana, April 10, 2014: To commemorate Golden Jubilee Year-2014, a blood donation camp for Thalassemic children was organised by staff of DMCH Pharmacy on the occasion of first anniversary of DMCH Pharmacy.
Salaam Zindagi Foundation also participated in organising the blood donation camp. The camp was formally inaugurated by Secretary of DMCH Managing Society Prem Kumar Gupta. Also present on the occasion were Principal Dr Daljit Singh, Vice Principal Dr Sandeep Puri, Medical Superintendent Dr Ashwini Chaudhary Assistant Dean Academics Dr Sandeep Kaushal, Dr Amarjit Kaur(Professor & Head of Transplant Medicine) and Manjit Saini, President, Salaam Zindagi Foundation .
A total 64 units of blood were collected during the camp.
Prem Kumar lauded the joint efforts of DMCH Pharmacy and Salaam Zindagi Foundation in organising the camp. Those who donated blood during the camp were felicitated by the dignitaries on the occasion.
Giving information about Hospital Pharmacy services, Prem Kumar Gupta informed that DMCH started its own in-house pharmacy last year with aim of providing quality drugs at affordable prices to the patients. The medicine is dispensed by qualified pharmacists and all medications are maintained at cold chain as per manufacturer’s guidelines. For the convenience of patients, outlets are located at every floor of the hospital and the pharmacy is running through recently introduced Hospital information System (HIS). The hospital drug formulary has been established and made available in all the departments, informed Gupta.    
Vir Vikram, In-Charge Pharmacy thanked all the volunteers who donated blood and announced    that all the blood units collected during the camp will be given free of cost to the Thalassemic children through Salaam Zindagi Foundation.
Manjit Saini, President, Salaam Zindagi Foundation  informed that foundation is further sponsoring 15 more Thalassemic children for free blood transfusion.
