Ferozepur, February 17, 2013: In an important meeting of Bharti Kissan Union, an organization committed to struggle for the welfare of farmers community, held under the leadership of Joginder Singh Ratta Khera, general secretary in which the presidents and office bearers of all block of Ferozepur participated.
In a press release, the leaders of BKU decided to hold a massive rally on February 20 at Amritsar on the eve of death anniversary of Saheed Sadhu Singh Takhtupura at village Sorian in district Amritsar.
The BKU leaders demanded from the centre government to give the rates of their produce according to the recommendations of Swaminathan Commission besides rolling back of rise in diesel prices.
BKU leaders alleged that centre government is showing a step-motherly treatment with the farmers as the increase in rates of their produce is not in proportion of the increase in rates of diesel prices. The meager rise in the price rate of wheat has crated a resentment among the farmers.
In the meeting, state leaders Surjit Singh Dhaba, Gurvinder Singh Mannewala, Bagicha Singh Chak Nodhana, Sapal Bhodipur, Sher Singh, Kabal Singh Ghanga, Lakhwinder Singh Rattewala and Surjit Singh Chak Khava were also present.
