Ludhiana, March 2, 2015: The Bharat Jan Gyan Vigyan Jatha (BJGVJ) has taken strong exception to the government’s move to axe 600 trees to make a test centre for the driving license in the Government College for Boys.
In a statement released today Maj.Sher singh Aulukh - President, Dr Arun Mitra – General Secretary, M S Bhatia – Organsing Secretary, said this is totally unacceptable as it will vitiate the already poor environment and air quality in the city.
“This test centre should be developed at some government land outside the city as the college is centrally located and the proposed area provides playgrounds to the students”, they added.
Further, they said this type of land reuse policy of the government is totally against the interest of the people’s health.
“The government should revoke this order”, they demanded.
