Beginning of new era for Muslim mothers and daughters: Anurag

Dharamshala, August 22, 2017: The Honourable Supreme Court today struck down the validity of instant triple talaq by a majority of 3:2, calling it unconstitutional. Welcoming this verdict, BJP MP from HP Mr Anurag Thakur hailed the judgment calling it ‘the beginning of a new era for Muslim mothers and daughters’.
Commenting on the judgment, Thakur said, “I welcome the historic and landmark judgment on triple talaq. Every women irrespective of religion, caste, creed should enjoy the constitutional rights and this decision ushers a new a new era for the rights of Muslim mothers and daughters to live a life of dignity. I congratulate all the women who took a step in this direction and stood up for their right. This indeed is a significant step in the direction of building a ‘New India’.”
A Bench comprising five judges, headed by Chief Justice J S Khehar, delivered the landmark judgment today.
