New Delhi, March 24, 2017: India’s leading travel metasearch, ixigo recently conducted a study predicting a 32% drop in domestic airfares this summer. Taking into account the top 25 domestic routes, it was found that the average fare between the months of May & July will be around Rs.3850, as opposed to last years average fare of Rs.5080 for the same months. Though the most drastic drop in flight ticket prices is most likely to be seen in July, keeping in mind the holidays and upcoming summer break, May and June are good months to travel on low fares as well.

The maximum drop in air fares is anticipated to occur in two major flight sectors, namely Bengaluru - Udaipur and Kolkata - Bengaluru, being 16% and 25% less than 2016 respectively. Fares to and from most popular tourist destinations and metropolitans such as Goa, Jaipur, Mumbai, Chennai, etc. are also going to see a considerable dip from last year.

Commenting on this, Aloke Bajpai, ixigo CEO & Co-Founder said - “If you’re in the mood for a summer vacation, we strongly recommend that you book your tickets for the upcoming summer months now. On an average we are expecting an approximate fall of about 18% in flight fares from last year, making this the year to travel cheap! With the forecast of already low flight fares for the months of May to July plus additional cashback and offers given out by websites such as ixigo, you are bound to get an awesome holiday deal.”
