Chandigarh, March 31, 2017: Haryana Urban Local Bodies Minister, Mrs Kavita Jain said that the basic amenities in urban areas would be further strengthened and steps would be taken to achieve the goals set for cleanliness and self employment of those living in urban areas. While stating this here today, an official spokesman said that in the next fortnight, the Minister would hold meetings at divisional level to review the progress made so far on important projects and would issue guidelines to further accelerate the pace of implementation of schemes. He said that while taking a serious note of the lethargy of the administrative officials in achieving the set targets of public welfare schemes of Central and State governments in urban areas, the Minister issued instructions to senior officers to convene a divisional level review meeting. The Minister would hold a review meeting of all administrative and nodal officers of Rohtak division on April 3, of Ambala division on April 7, Hisar division on April 10 and of Gurugram division on April 17. She said that in these meetings, emphasis would be laid on accelerating the pace of implementation of schemes like Housing for All envisioned by Prime Minister Mr Narendra Modi by year 2022, making urban areas open-defecation free, building toilets, increasing possibilities for self employment through skill and semi-skill training to youth under National Urban Livelihood Mission, transport facility in 18 towns under AMRUT scheme, drainage of dirty water, availability of potable water, arrangement of nightlighting and parks and beautification of towns. Under the street vender policy, emphasis would be laid on speeding up the survey to find suitable places in colonies and markets for Rehris and Fadi.
