Badminton Championship held at PU Boy’s Hostel No. 4
Chandigarh, April 8, 2019: An Intra-Hostel Badminton Championship was held at Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel Hall, Boys Hostel 4, Panjab University, Chandigarh. The Badminton (Singles and Doubles) Championship was co-ordinated by Kapil Sharma and Gurinderjit Singh, Block Prefects of the Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel Hall which received overwhelming response from the hostel residents. Lauding the initiative, Dean Student Welfare, Prof. Emanual Nahar said that Sports play a great role in our life as it keeps us healthy and active. We can have a healthy mind only when we have a healthy body. Great achievements come our way when we maintain our physical and mental well-being and sports help us to maintain a good health and improve coordination and overall personality of an individual. It makes a person more active, attentive and enhances his mental and physical capabilities. Prof. Nahar further said that as sports instil many values and virtues, every student should involve themselves in the sports activity even for a small time all through the day as it does not provide only physical strength however it increases mental power too and it is in this backdrop only that sports events are organised in all the hostels from time to time on the Panjab University Campus. After tough rounds of competition, Rahul Sharma of University Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences (UIPS) stood first in Badminton (Singles) Competition, and Amandeep Singh of PU Institute of Social Science Education and Research (ISSER) got second position. In Badminton (Doubles) competition team of Amandeep Singh of PU Institute of Social Science Education and Research (ISSER) & Rahul Sharma of University Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences (UIPS) bagged first position and team of Gurmeent Singh of Department of Environment Studies & Mandeep Singh Bhandal of Centre for Social Work got the second position.
