BADAL asks officers to prepare Master plan for ‘integrated education hub’ at Jalandhar

Jalandhar, August 2, 2013: In a major fillip to education in the region, Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today asked officers of the state government to prepare a master plan for constructing ‘Integrated Education Hub’ by optimally utilising 43 acres land of the local Sports College.

Presiding over a meeting of the officers at the local circuit house here today, the Chief Minister said that this land must be utilised judiciously by constructing this ‘Integrated Education Hub’ having a world class Government College, Sports School and Special school to impart quality education to the students of the region. He said that while the Government College and Sports School would be pivotal in providing quality training to the budding players of the region, the special school would give education to the meritorious students securing 80% or more marks from the government schools. He laid thrust that these schools and colleges should be equipped with ultra modern sports facilities besides the provision of Hostel must be made in these institutions to provide boarding and lodging facilities to the students.

The Chief Minister said that the hostels in this hub should be double-storey with the provision of expansion so that it could meet the needs of future. Likewise he said that the grounds of the college and schools should have the latest infra structure so that the players could be groomed well on them. He asked the officers to ensure that Astro turf was installed on the Hockey field so that the national game could be given impetus.  

Expressing concern over the dilapidated infra structure presently at the site, the Chief Minister said that the entire process of reconstruction of the college and school campuses must be expedited so that these institutions could start imparting education at the earliest. He further said that the officers should complete the task of planning the whole project at the earliest so that funds could be issued to the concerned agencies for executing the work very soon. He reiterated that the state government was firmly committed for the overall development of the state in general and that of the education sector in particular adding that no stone would be left unturned for maintaining the tempo of overall progress and growth in the state.

Prominent amongst those present in the meeting included Special Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Gurkirat Kirpal Singh, Deputy Commissioner Shruti Singh, Chief Administrator PUDA Manvesh Singh Sidhu, Chief Architect Punjab Swapna besides the Principals of Sports College and School Jalandhar.
