Ludhiana, March 30, 2015: The Washington Apple Commission brought the freshness of apples straight from the orchards of Washington state to Ludhiana on Monday. As part of a national campaign called the Apple Wagon Tour, Washington Apple Commission created a fun and exciting event for consumers in the city at Urban Estate, Dugri, Phase -2  Market.
The Apple Wagon Tour is a three month long roadshow that is going on through 55 cities across India. Through this road show, consumers will be able to experience the different varieties of Washington apples. In Ludhiana the two day road show attracted a huge number of participants for different contests and competitions like ‘Build the Apple Tower’, ‘Quick Quiz on Washington’, ‘Spot the Apple’.
Commenting on the tour, Keith Sunderlal, India representative, Washington Apple Commission said, “We are very happy with the response that we have received from consumers in Ludhiana for the Apple Wagon Tour. Through this initiative we want more and more people to experience the goodness of Washington apples. All of us know about the health benefits of apples and we want to bring them to the consumers at their doorstep through the road show. We are excited about the road show and are looking forward to the consumer response from the next city in Ludhiana.”
Naini Setalvad, Nutritionist, “Apples and healthy lifestyle are synonymous to each other; being a nutritionist myself I always make sure the intake of apples by my patients in their everyday diet is high. I’m glad that the Washington Apple Commission has taken up this initiative and actually helped propagate the idea of eating at least one Apple a day. A mobile van like the Apple Wagon is sure a very innovative and exciting way to keep the consumer educated.”
