Anti-larvae scheme Ludhiana and MCL officials celebrate “Friday-Dry Day”,
Ludhiana, September 20, 2019: District Epidemiologist Ludhiana Dr Ramesh Kumar has informed that the Anti-Larvae Scheme Ludhiana and Municipal Corporation officials today celebrated “Friday-Dry Day”, under which religious organisations etc were checked for Dengue larvae. Dengue larvae was found from 2 containers Gurudwara Dukh Niwaran Sahib near Jagraon Bridge, in one cooler each at Sita Mata Mandir and Hanuman Daresi Ground, in one container at Chintpurni Mandir Atam Nagar and in three coolers at Guru Nanak Puri Haibowal Kalan. This dengue larvae was destroyed with the help of a larvicide spray. The teams also educated the public about ways to save themselves from malaria, dengue and chikungunya diseases. Information was also provided for celebrating Friday as Dry Day, besides they also urged the authorities about carrying out announcement from their public address systems about educating the masses about ways to save themselves from malaria, dengue and chikungunya diseases. Pamphlets were also distributed and posters were also pasted there. The public was educated that the mosquito that causes dengue and chikungunya fever bites during day time. The symptoms of dengue and chikungunya are high fever, headache, body ache, skin rashes, pain behind the eyes, Mild bleeding (such a nose bleed, bleeding gums or easy bruising), severe joint and muscle pain etc. The public was also educated about ways to save themselves from these mosquitoes such as never let water accumulate in trays of coolers and pots, broken utensils, drums and tyres, and clean them at least once a week, water tanks on rooftops should be covered properly, cover body area properly so that the mosquito does not bite, use mosquito net, mosquito repellants etc and do not take Aspirin and brufen during fever and take only paracetamol (with consultation of doctor).
