Annual Sports Meet at KMV

Jalandhar, March 10, 2015: Sports Meet at Kanya Maha Vidyalaya was marked by gaiety and festive spirit that infected both the participants and audience alike. The day’s events began with a March Past by the players that participate in inter-university state, national and international events from time to time. 

Olympic oath taking and bursting of crackers preceded the formal inaugural address by the Chief Guest of the occasion Principal Prof. Atima Sharma, who said that the day was dedicated to students who were not regular players and never get the opportunity to show their skills in games.  She said that keeping physically fit was the mantra to success in life. Also sharp & focused mind resided in a healthy body.  Most of the sporting events organized were for students from non-sports background.  There were interesting races like back-race, sack-race etc. The 100 mtr race was won by Jyoti B.A. 1st year.  Kirandeep Kaur also from B.A. 1st year won the 200 mts. & 400 mts. Race Manisha from B.A. VI semester won the shot-put-event and Jaskiran of 10+1 Arts won the discuss throw event.  Yuvika & Rajni won special prize for being the drummers for the occasion.  Kirandeep from B.A. 1st year won the special honour of being declared the best athlete of the year.  Not to be left behind are the teachers also participated in the various sporting events.  The basket ball match was won by the team headed by Dr. Harpreet from Department of Punjabi.  Dr. Harpreet also won the 100 mts. race while Preeti Sood second in the same event.  In the three legged race of the teachers Kusum, Simanjeet won the first spot while Sonia and Renu came second.  The 100 mtr. Brisk walk was won by Rashmi while Sonia and Ritu came second and third to the finish in line.
