Students gather at the Annual Convocation at Lyallpur Khalsa College, Jalandhar on Monday,
Jalandhar, November 2, 2015: Around 300 students proudly wore academic gown in the Annual Convocation held at Lyallpur Khalsa College, Jalandhar, today. Chief Guest of the event Padamshari Dr.Lalji Singh - the noted scientist and former Vice Chancellor Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi, conferred on degrees to those students who qualified post graduation Masters Exams in session 2013-14 in various academic streams.
In his convocation address the Chief Guest urged the students to contribute to the development of the nation, employing all their knowledge and skills. He lauded the institution for providing the needed ambience for research activities, as research was most sought-after areas in knowledge development. Congratulating the students on their awards, he wished them good luck on their initiation into professional life.
The President of the College Governing Council Sardarni Balbir Kaur welcomed the Chief Guest and said that the institution was committed to quality education, productive research and all round development of students. Wishing the graduates good luck in life , she asked them to work unitedly for the betterment of the society.
Speaking on the occasion, the Principal of the College Dr. Gurpinder Singh Samra highlighted the achievements of the college in Academics Sports and other co- curricular activities. He informed the present that the Lyallpur Khalsa College had made a rare achievement of holding the overall trophies of Guru Nanak DevUniversity for sports and co-curricular activities at the same time. He particularly mentioned the contribution made by S. Swaran Singh Ex foreign Minister and S. Balbir Singh Ex Member Parliament and former Presidents of the College Governing Council in promoting education in the region.
Vote of thanks on this occasion was presented by S. Jaspal Singh Waraich Joint Secretary of College Governing Council and the staff. The stage was managed by Prof Sukhvinder Kaur Rai.
