Ampere bets big on EV sales; appoints Meera Menon as COO

Coimbatore: Ampere Vehicles Pvt Ltd (AMPVL), a leading electric vehicle company in the country, has announced the appointment of its first Chief Operating Officer, Meera Menon, to strengthen its existing operations.

This decision is imperative to Ampere’s future growth plans- to emerge as the leading player in the EV industry, across India. The company’s current product segments include electric cycles, electric scooters, electric three wheelers and customized electric vehicles.

Commenting on the appointment, Hemalatha Annamalai, CEO, M/s Ampere Vehicles Pvt. Ltd, said, "The board welcomes Meera as Ampere’s first COO. She will be responsible for overall factory planning, operations, research and development, customer service and HR.”

"My immediate tasks are to deliver on technology development initiatives, aligning with ‘Make in India’ and monetisation of R&D assets through continuous innovation; and ‘customer delight’ with emphasis on quality assurance ", stated Menon.

She added, “Another major venture is the establishment of an all-woman e-cycle production unit in Coimbatore. This initiative will provide the much needed fillip to the provision of affordable e-cycles to student and adult cycling segments.”

To improve productivity, increase efficiencies, decrease costs and streamline processes, the company will integrate all departments through a centralised cloud based ERP. “To empower employees, a slew of HR initiatives, are also in the pipeline, in the areas of competency development and career planning”, said Menon.

Talking about the company’s growth targets, she said, “With all the growth plans and capacity building initiatives in place, Ampere is targeting its revenue to increase by almost 200% per cent this fiscal year.”

Meera, a chartered accountant by profession brings to Ampere an experience of 30 years in client management, automating Business solutions, domain consulting and Activity based Costing/ Management. She attributes her expertise in Operational Control and Quality processes to her tenure with TCS in a senior capacity.
