LUDHIANA, April 1, 2018: In view of Bharat Bandh call on April 2, the city police on Sunday carried out a flag march in different parts of the city to build confidence among the residents.

Deputy Commissioner Pradeep Kumar Agrawal, Commissioner of Police RN Dhoke, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCPs) Ashwani Kapur, Gagan Ajit Singh led the team of the 500 policemen in the flag march.

The flag March was started from Jalandhar Bypass which crossed from Salem Tabri Chowk, Clock Tower, Vishwakarma Chowk, Gill Road and Ferozepur road.

DC and Police Commissioner appealed the residents to maintain peace and exercise restraint during bandh and not to fall prey to rumour mongers whose sole purpose is to disturb the peaceful atmosphere of the state.

Deputy Commissioner Pradeep Kumar Agrawal said that administration has held meetings with various organizations and their members have ensured to maintain law and order during the bandh.

Police Commissioner aid the police had beefed up security in the city and no-one would be allowed to take the law into the hands. He said that around 4000 cops have been deployed besides a unit of Rapid Action Force has also been stationed.

While Deputy Commissioner revealed that all schools and colleges will remain closed on April 2 and mobile internet services have been suspended for 24-hours. He said that similar security arrangements have been made in other parts of Ludhiana district.

CONGRESS ANNOUNCES SUPPORT TO PROTEST ON APRIL 2; MP EXHORTS PEOPLE TO EXERCISE RESTRAINT AND CALM DURING PROTEST

LUDHIANA: Member of Parliament (MP) Ravneet Singh Bittu on Sunday announced the support of Congress party to the protest call on April 2 and claimed that Congress leaders and workers would actively participate in the protest.

He appealed the people to maintain peace during the protest.

Sharing the information through telephone, MP said that he is against any kind of dilution of the provision of Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribe (Prevention Of Atrocities) Act. He said that he respects the constitution which has given equal rights to all the communities.

He urged the organizations who had called for a protest to do their protest in a peaceful manner and all Congress MLAs, leaders and workers would take part in the protest on April 2.

He said that elaborate security arrangements have been made in the district to maintain law and order and no one would be allowed to take the law into their hands.

BHARAT BANDH CALL ON APRIL 2- GILL MLA APPEALS TO RESIDENTS TO KEEP RESTRAIN AND MAINTAIN LAW AND ORDER
LUDHIANA: Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) from Gill Constituency Kuldeep Singh Vaid on Sunday has appealed to the citizens to exercise restraint and maintain law and order during Bharat Bandh on April 2.

He asked all the organizations to extend fulsome support to the Bandh.

Addressing a press conference, MLA stated that any kind of dilution of the provision of Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribe (Prevention of Atrocities) Act is not acceptable. He said that he respects the constitution which has given equal rights to all the communities.

He urged the central government should dismiss all the anti-Dalit officials so that people belonging to SC community should not suffer to get the justice.

He said that only emergency/ medical services would remain available for 24-hours during Bandh and exhorted the organizations and people to not to fall prey to rumour mongers whose sole purpose is to disturb the peaceful atmosphere of the state.

Councillor Harkaran Singh Vaid, Naresh Dhiman, Vijay Danav, Ramanjeet Lalli and others were present during the meeting.
