PWD MINISTER SINGLA UNFURLS THE NATIONAL FLAG IN FEROZEPUR

Ferozepur, August 16, 2018: PWD and Information Technology Minister Vijay Inder Singh Singla unfurled the National Flag on the occasion of 72nd Independence Day and took salute from the contingents of Punjab Police, BSF, Indian Army, Women’s Wing of Punjab Police, Punjab Home Guard and NCC Scouts and Guides during the District level Function at Shaheed Bhagat Singh Stadium here.

On this occasion Singla said that the country has attained freedom owing to the sacrifices made by the scores of freedom fighters. Sidhu said that the Chief Minister, Captain Amarinder Singh has taken historical decisions with regard to ending VIP culture, obliterating drug menace in the short time since Congress government has taken over which will ultimately help in the development of the state. Talking about the various development projects Singla said that the state government has initiated several schemes for the betterment of people belonging to all walks of life.

He said very soon the residents of Ferozepur will get PGI Satellite Centre for which the land has been identified by the state government. He said that the state government will convert 260 schools of Punjab as “Smart Schools” besides the old age pension has also been increased upto Rs. 750 at it will be further increased. Talking about the road development Singla said that to improve the condition of Roads, project worth Rs. 300 crores will be started with the help of NABARD.

The cabinet minister also initiated the “”Buddies Group” program to curb the drug menace and encourage the youngsters to refrain from drugs.

On the occasion Singla also honoured the eminent personalities from various fields, freedom fighters, families of kargil martyrs, sportspersons, students, officers, and employees.

Earlier, Singla paid homage to the martyrs Bhagat Singh Rajguru and Sukhdev at National Martyrs Memorial. He also interacted with the BSF personnel and boost their morale.

Later in the evening Singla again went to Hussainiwala Joint Check Post to watch the retreat ceremony.

On this occasion Singla was accompanied by Husan Lal, Secretary, Public Works Department, Parminder Singh Pinki, MLA Ferozepur (Urban), Satkar Kaur Gehri MLA Ferozepur (Rural), Kulbir Zira MLA (Zira), Sumer Singh Gurjar Commissioner, Gurinder Singh Dhillon IG (Ferozepur Range), Balwinder Singh Dhaliwal Deputy Commissioner, Pritam Singh SSP Ferozepur, SK Aggarwal District and session Judge, Gurmit Singh Multani ADC (G) and hundreds of congress workers and supporters.
