Agri Varsity Holds Lecture On Innovations In Product Development

Ludhiana, November 24, 2016: The Department of food Science and Technology organized a lecture on ‘Innovations in Product Development: The CFTRI Way’by Dr.V.K.Modi, Chief Scientist, Meat and Marine Sciences, CFTRI, Mysore. Dr.Modi, who is also an alumnus of PAU, deliberated on the various techniques for sensorial evaluation of food products. He discussed about the novel foods developed from eggs like egg sausages, egg paneer, egg spread, egg bites etc. Dr Modi explained that these products had good nutritional value, acceptance as well as shelf life. Different curry mixes suitable for different cuisines and areas were also discussed. The scientist elaborated on the procedure and protocol for transfer of technologies from his institute to various entrepreneurs. The lecture was very informative and was attended by the faculty and students of the departments of Food Science and Technology, Processing and Food Engineering, Food and Nutrition and Punjab Post Harvest Technology Centre.
