7-Kms Long Ropar Bypass Constructed With Cost Of Rs 180 Crore Ready

Chandigarh, September 28, 2015: Reiterating its commitment of providing world class infrastructure, the seven kilometre long bypass on Chandigarh-Jalandhar Road has been constructed. This bypass has been constructed with a cost of Rs 180 crore and would be inaugurated by Chief Minister Mr Parkash Singh Badal and Deputy CM Mr Sukhbir Singh Badal onOctober 2. PWD Minister Mr Janmeja Singh Sekhon would also attend this function.
      On this 7-kilometre long bypass, two high level bridges have been constructed on Sutlej and Sirhand canal. The road of bypass has been constructed with a cost of Rs 78.72 crore and Rs 10.24 crore have been spent on the approach road connecting the bypass with Ropar city. An amount of Rs 79.61 crore has been spent on constriction of high level bridge on Sutlej river and Rs 11.44 crore on construction of high level bridge on Sirhand canal.
     With the construction of this bypass, the distance between Chandigarh and Jalandhar would reduce by 5 kilometres and the traffic would not have to pass through Ropar city.
     Ropar MLA and Punjab Education Minister Dr Daljit Singh Cheema said that this bypass would be a gift for the residents of Ropar city. He said that when this bypass is opened for vehicular traffic, the problem of traffic congestion in Ropar would be automatically solved as the traffic would not pass through the city.
      Dr Cheema further said that the Shiromani Akali Dal-Bharatiya Janta Party government in Punjab has reiterated its commitment for providing world class infrastructure to Punjabis. He said all districts of the the state have been connected with six lane roads, besides new Rail Over Bridges, Underbridges, High Level bridges have been constructed in different parts of the state.
