Chandigarh, December 13, 2012: The Punjab government would dedicate 6 new Railway Over Bridges constructed at the cost of Rs. 101.9 crore to the public by March next.

Disclosing this here today, PWD Minister Sharanjit Singh Dhillon said that with the completion of these projects, the dream of linking all cities with 4/6 lane roads would reach near realisation.  He said that these 6 Railway Over Bridges would be thrown open to public by March next, included ROB in Barnala(Distt. Barnala)  near SD College constructed at the cost of Rs 23.81 crore, second at Gurney (Distt. Sangrur) with the cost of Rs 16.28 crore, third at Sahnewal(Distt. Ludhiana) with the cost ofRs 17 crore, fourth on Khanna-Lalheri road at Khanna (Distt. Ludhiana) with the cost ofRs 10.17 crore, fifth at Mukerian(Distt. Hoshiarpur) with the cost of Rs 16.95 crore and sixth one at Chajli (Distt. Sangrur) on Sunam-Lehra road with the cost ofRs 14.35 crore.

He further said that work on all these projects is on the verge of completion and by March 2013 all these bridges would be opened for public. He said that Punjab Government has earlier opened 3 new Railway Over Bridges for transportation in 2012, which included a very important bridge at Morinda bypass, at Chawapail on Samrala-Bija road and at Bhikhi on Bhikhi-Bhudladha (Mansa) road. Punjab Government has also sanctioned a bridge on Jalandhar-Kaputhala road near Khojewala which would be built with the cost of Rs 34 crore,he added.

The Minister also added that SAD-BJP government was committed to provide world class roads, bridges, which is the base of transportation sector. Minister said that the state government has already constructed Bathinda-Badal road with the cost of Rs.29 crore at Bathinda, construction of RoB at Bahadurgarh-Ghanaur-Shambhu highway with the cost of Rs.17 crore, whereas Rs.21 crore has been invested on the construction of railway under bridge (RuB) on Bathinda-Talwandi Sabo highway at Bathinda.
