5 Ludhiana students get state ranks in International Olympiad

Ludhiana, June 3: The 5 students of Ludhiana made city proud by garnering state ranks in the Olympiad Awards which was held recently in Delhi. The award was organized by Science Olympiad Foundation (SOF). About forty-lac students from over 31500 schools in 1400 cities across India and 19 countries participated in the Olympiad exams in 2014-15.

The state rank 1 awardees from Ludhiana to receive certificate along with the medal was Harsh Agarwal of class 10th from D.A.V. Public School in National Science Olympiad. Four students from Ludhiana have got rank 2 in National Cyber Olympiad category . They were awarded with medals and certificate. These students were , Ananya Chowdhery of class 3rd from Sat Paul Mittal School, Aakarshit Uppal of class 12th from Bhartiya Vidya Mandir Sr. Sec School, Ludhiana.

SOF is the world’s biggest organizer of Olympiad exams and have been conducting Olympiads since the past 18 years. SOF spends over Rs.10 crores annually towards awards, scholarships and felicitations of winners & participants.

Mr Mahabir Singh, the Founder & Executive Director of SOF said that around 24000 students from 3500 schools have been awarded for achieving top state level ranks. In addition, close to 6,00,000 students have been awarded “Medals of Excellence” for achieving top rank in their respective schools. 1500 principals & teachers were also honored for their commitment to academics and single minded pursuit in improving the students’ academic knowledge and successfully preparing them for competitive exams.

Meanwhile SOF aims to identify, motivate and reward talent and performance at the International level, state level and school level. It attempts to develop a spirit of competitiveness among students and to prepare them to face competition beyond their school level. Each participating student’s performance is analyzed and a school, city, state and international rank awarded, to enable the student know her/his level of preparedness and readiness to face competition.
